Archived News from 2006

back

Please Note:All meetings referred to in Archived News articles have now ended and the Wallsend Self Help Group are no longer holding any meetings or responding to any correspondence. Our Amazon shop is now also closed. The information on this page was correct in 2002 and is included on the site for historical reference only.

October, 2006. As stated in an earier news update, the Wallsend Self Help Group will not be holding any more meetings. However, we will continue to provide free help and advice regarding Anxiety, Depression, and OCD via our website to anyone who needs it.

As part of this commitment, we have launched an online store in association with Amazon.co.uk which will allow our site visitors to search for and buy all manner of products - as well as books which may be of help in their recovery.

Click HERE to visit our online store - We've chosen a selection of books you may fine very beneficial (although you can search for your own books and much more!), and don't forget you can still obtain our own publications direct from us by clicking here.

Why not visit our new online store and see what you can find: We're sure you will find it extremely useful! Please note, the online store will open in a new window.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
March, 2006. It is with great regret that I have to announce that the Wallsend Self Help Group will *NOT* be holding any further meetings. Our planned Programme of Meetings has been cancelled and from March 2006 onward, our point of contact will be via our internet website, which will remain free to access and continue to provide advice and information to anxiety, Depression and OCD sufferers worldwide.

Our Book, CD and Advice booklet are still available for you to buy (click here to see our range of products), and I will be happy to deal with any requests for these items in exactly the same efficient way the group always has. Our website will also continue to be available for visitors to access.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience the cancellation of our meetings may cause our members, but it is a set of circumstances beyond our control that have led to this decision being taken.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our hundreds, if not thousands, of members who have attended our meetings over the past 21 years, and we wish them every success in achieving the goals they set themselves in life.

We would also like to thank all of our volunteers who have helped us throughout the years. Their commitment and dedication enabled the group to flourish and evolve over the years and to be able to offer a diverse range of services. Needless to say, their help has been invlauable and very much appreciated.

It has been a great priviledge to meet so many wonderful people who, in spite of their difficulties, strive to find ways to improve their situation. They are an inspiration to us all.

Thank you to everyone who helped us with our work: our guest speakers from the medical profession from whom we had friendship and support; complementary therapists who provided enjoyable evenings with excellent information and demonstrations; yoga and circle dance teachers; etc, etc; and others too numerous to mention.

Thank you all.

Terri Conley, founder and Co-ordinator, Wallsend Self Help Group.

February, 2006. Following our extended winter break, we have begun to put together our new programme of meetings and, as always, we will be open to new members. If you live in the Tyne and Wear area, or travelling to Wallsend is something you are able to do, and you would like to attend any of our sessions, please contact us for details of our fortnightly venue. We'd love to see you at any of our regular, friendly meetings. A full Programme of Meetings will available online soon. Click here to view our previous programme to see the kind of things we cover in our meetings.

January, 2006. Happy New Year to all our visitors, members and supporters.

For your information, 2006 sees a delay in the date we return for our new sessions - instead of re-commencing soon after the Christmas break as usual, this year we are going to take an extended winter break and start our new programme later in the year - details to follow, so watch this space.

Meanwhile, feel free to continue visiting our site for information and advice. You may be interested to know that you can still obtain a copy of our book or CD - perhaps as a belated Gift for yourself or for a friend or relative to act as a booster to add that extra impetus on the road to recovery. Our booklet of advice is also still avaiable.

If you'd like to see what else is available, please use the following link to access the Amazon.co.uk web site or, for your convenience, you can use any of the links to the Amazon web site you'll find located on all of our pages. Try Amazon Recommends for some suggestions...

Finally, let us here at the Wallsend Self Help Group wish you all a relaxed and positive New Year.
